If I find tin in a mine that means that there is only tin in it or I can still find another metal in the same mine?

"Mines" don't technically exist anymore, as it's just another layer of the game world. If you mine far enough out you should be able to find every single mineral.

Imagine they're not special instances but just a door to the whole, complete, underground layer/level.

There is no longer a separate map instance for any individual mine, is what he means. There are underground layers. Each layer is just rock to be mined out and once in awhile you'll hit a vein (node) of metal that can be mined. If you've prospected tin, that means you've found a vein of tin. If you dig away from that vein or in other places, then you may find other metals too.

Has anyone figured out if the first level down a surface mine hole can tunnel into someone's cellar? That would be scary!

Houses are separate maps entirely which I'm not sure anyone really knows how they work but they are definitely independent of the world maps.

as in cellar you can not mine nor build minehole, I would suppouse it is a different and independent map. Also it is being protected by personal/village claim kver the houses entrence, so That supports my thoughts. No fear here.

Cellars are something of their own and are not connected the Layer 1 (Mine holes and caves) so you're safe. No one can mine into your cellar.

Wait... you guys are saying that if you just kept digging forever, you would have a World 5 inside world 4 o_O? Sort of reminds me of Dungeon Keeper, sending all of the little drones to dig everything up :P

p.s. sorry if my post is irrelevant. just had to post it.
