Prospecting.....

I have read in some places that prospecting may be bugged. Can anyone with prospecting experience speculate on this further. I just prospected for the first time and got some very odd and very inconsistant results. First try I got the red circle and walked away from the pointing arrow toward the open pie end. Second try same thing. Third try no minerals found. Returned to my original starting point to start over....only this time. No minerals found. I repeated this a few times and some times got a circle and pie direction while other times in the exact same spot I got No minerals found. My rustroot is Q23 so I should have a reasonable range. That aside I can get different results standing in the exact same spot. I quit before wasting any more root. Any ideas?

Slightly bugged, if you follow the direction of the red circle for awhile and keep trying every few steps, you can usually find the vein it was pointing to.
