What the hell with beehives ? Let's figure it out !

Soo, I spend some time gathering the best straw I have, cutting one of my planted trees to get >q10 wood, and use my carpenter to make boards, all of this to make the best quality beehive I can. Straw is q30, blocks are q15, boards q27 (yeah, shitty, but that's not the point).
Then I plow the radius of the beehive, and start planting carrots, all above q30, in order to make some quality wax for a cuirass.

Well, first wax is there. q10. Work as intended I guess  ?

The Hive works in mysterious ways.

So, no one figured out how to produce quality wax constantly ? There's not even a range of quality, is it totally random ?

It seems loosely connected to hive and crop q, but nobody really knows how it works. I doubt even Loftar does.

Obviously the bees need to earn more LP from pollinating crops and such before they can raise their waxmaking skill, and raise the softcap on their beeswax quality. :3

Well, the only time I got a q28 wax was when settling a new beehive in the spot where I started farming. Quality of crops was from 15 to 30, all but poppyflowers were planted. I think the wax there never went under q15, and a good half of it was around q20.
The one I talked in the opening post got me 3 wax so far, q10 and 2 q11, with better materials and only q30+ crops. Less diversity in crops planted, and no crops were there when I built it.

There seems to be some kind of logic, but it needs way more testing. I can do some, but if anyone is interested too, join in for the fun !

I mean, this stuff is programmed, there must be some logic in there.

Test idea ... for those that like to try it out. ... And No I'm not in a position to do it myself.
- Have a high q field and a low q field (preferably same crop type(s) of course).
- Plant two new beehives (not overlapping in range of course),
- and monitor the beehive data for some time (days! Preferably longer of course).
- Than swap the beehives and monitor again.
Data could be interesting ... or just boring like hell ... of course.

Erm, Think I have been coding to much again.

AHAHAHA, so yesterday, after posting all this stuff, I thought "Oh shit, my farmer built the beehive, not my carpenter, this is probably why I'm only getting qCRAP wax, how stupid am I, bla bla bla".
So this morning, I start again, but this time my carpenter do the job. Harvest, replant, harvest, replant. Only q31 and above, this is so gonna work, good wax is miiiiiiiine.

No. Q10.

Well, back to square one.... Funny thing, before destroying the hive I made yesterday, I harvested its wax. 3 q12. So it started as q10, then q11, and then q12. Considering the only good wax I managed to harvest was the very first one produced by a newly built beehive, this totally makes sense !

Aha.

Related skill levels on your farmer and Carpenter?
Thinking Dexterity and Carpentry.

Any Super Carpenter around that can test for some soft- or hard-capping on the beehive results.

what does dex have to do with farming? nothing.

and the carpentry skill on a carpenter is only relevant for the quality of boards produced, not the actual building process.
