First, get yourself bone saws. Now build a timber house. Now level you Exploration so you can find WWW's. Think you've spent a long time playing?

Believe me you haven't.


Once you have 30 leather and 20 wax, you can start having some idea of eventually getting a mine. It's a very long term goal. Also, it takes forever to mine until you have a pickaxe. And that's like 10 metal, plus you need a kiln for bricks and a forge. That's 25 clay and 45 bricks.

Hope you're near a water source.

Find a cave. Turn on night vision via your custom client. Use a stone axe to chip the walls until you find ore. SMELT! Success.

I realize I should mention a few more things now that I'm less preoccupied.
Please be aware of mining safety! Don't dig too deep or too greedily or you'll cause cave-ins. Cave-ins can kill you. Please search the forum for information on the subject as it has been detailed many times. The search function is great for this~

Also, make sure to move your belief slider towards Industry. Ore mined out by a full industry character is more likely to successfully smelt into metal bars than ore mined out by neutral or nature based characters. Nature is for farming, industry is for mining.
