Shall I ocupy this house?

Hello there fellows. I just entered the world of Haven and Hearth yesterday.
Thing is, Exploring around, I found a small house, with some empty cavinets (just minor stuff, barch, some woodfish bait), no beds, and no signs of ocupation.
Should I just...make it my own? Is there any way of knowing if that house is occupied?

Hang around for a while, if the owner doesn't come back it's yours. Especially since there's no claim over the house.

Now that you mention it...is there any way of actually CLAIMING the house and making it mine? I read somewhere something about property...

Mind you, you need foraging -> Plant lore -> and farming
As well as will to power as well.
