Pepper question

so i put the finished pepper in the peppermill how do i use it? i tried using it on food items via right click nothing happens

There's no visual indication that a piece of food has been peppered. If you look closely, you'll notice that the mill's pepper count is decreasing. You need 10 drupes per use, though, so if you have less than that nothing will happen.
