Battering Ram on Palisade

I have 68 Strength (that's with bear cape and necklace) and I'm trying to use my battering ram to demolish two sections of wall so I can have a second gate on my palisade.
Twice now I've expended my stamina trying to destroy one tile, and I haven't seen a color change. Should I expect to be at this awhile?
Do I have any hope of tearing it down? I own the wall I'm trying to demolish...would it help if I unclaimed it?
I'm aware of the Boar related strength boost, and I may have to resort to it.

It'll take you awhile, just keep at it. Wine helps, boar snuff runs out too quickly to be of any real use unless you're huffing tons of it. Just keep a couple buckets of water on hand. Don't unclaim it.

It has 2500 hitpoints, you're doing 3 damage per swing. Just relax and enjoy the ride.

You won't break just one segment, you'll shatter a large number of them as the ram seems to break 6-10 palisade wall segments per use, not to mention badly damage to remainder at the edges.

Awesome. 20 minutes per segment would have been a bit annoying, and I probably wouldn't have completed it in one sitting if that was the case.

Ironically it only destroyed the two I needed for the gate, and damaged the two side ones I need to remove for the posts.
