Help me figure out why I'm dead

I logged off last night at my hearth fire, no problems. I was building a mine in a small, walled-in area that had my hf in it. When I woke up today, I was dead. I inherited but my body has already decayed with the gate keys on it, so I'm stuck.

I figured someone had found me after I robbed them, but I haven't done that in ages. Even if that were the case, I was wearing chain. Could they kill me with anything less than a ranger bow? Regardless, there aren't any scents around the area. Summoning someone still leaves a murder scent, right? What's the deal?

How can you know that there aren't any scents around if you've only just reincarnated?

It doesn't take that many points to get up to ranging, especially from a reincarnate wearing chain mail and making a minehole by himself.

Yeah I had plenty of lp to get ranging back quickly. The per*ex should be high enough too. I'm really lost.

If you have just turned on ranging, you need to leave and re-enter an area to see scents. Looks like that might be impossible for you.

Well that's definitely what happened then. I just remembered that I took some empty crates off an abandoned plot before I started the mine. Some wandering vigilante must have seen the theft scent and taken justice. It's my fault for putting my HF outside like that.

Man, this is discouraging. I've died before and I'm not a 'fuck-it-I-quit' kind of guy, but I'm completely stuck now . The worst part is, I just put that wall up, so it isn't going to decay anytime soon. By the time it does, the walls around my farm will be long gone and it'll be looted to shit.

nah he's not strong enough. I'm just gonna have to try to organize some of my friends to help me out, or just grind up a new guy altogether
