Pali wall decay mechanics?

can anyone inform me on how long it may take for a pali wall to decay if built on grasslands and not stone.
the reason i ask is because i am planning on building a second gate at a later date. if i build 4 sections of the fence on grass will only those four decay and disappear? and if yes how long will that take?

Make sure it's in your claim and it won't decay for a long time. If it's not on a claim, personal or village, it'll begin to disappear after two weeks.
