Other than saying what q of food an animal has eaten. What does fodder q even do?

If your animals are eating fodder of lower quality than their products or breeding quality, it lowers their by-products and offspring's quality. It will never update this decrease in quality on their stat sheet but you'll realize somethings wrong when your q50 milk cow is giving you q15 milk.

The quality loss is permanent.
