Claims & Death?

Postby Lupich » Sun Mar 06, 2011 11:53 am

Hello Everyone,

I saw the sticky but it seemed... Dated? My friend and I recently started, he was the one that rushed the Yoemanry (I got other skills) so he claimed our land that had our shared huts, farm, and storage. But last night, he was mauled by a bear! What happens to the claim now that he must make a new character? How does this affect me since all of my things are on this claim now?

This is the first time one of us has died... And he hasn't been online to tell me about it yet. I'm anxious to know.
Thanks in advance.

if the new Characther inherits the dead one, he/she gets the claim.

To inherit you must click on the thinky that looks like a runestone in the Character creation area

He will automatically inherit the claim, but I'm not sure if he'll be able to resize the claim until he gets yeomanry back (he lost 50% of his LP for dying). Either way, your stuff is still safe though.

Edit: Bears/boars/ants(yes... ants and I don't get along) almost never try to kill you, they just gore you and knock you out. If you stay on the ground until the aggressor wanders off screen, then you should be able to get up and hearth quickly before it comes back. I've only had a death when I was attacked with very low SHP before. I've been gored... god... like 7 times by now? Still kicking. Thankful for the local swamp for the healing leaches though.

Id actually like to know a little about this also.
I read somewhere that after you die you are meant to not only inherit your ancestors claim but spawn at their hearth fire as well once you leave the character room?
Does anyone know if this is all true and if so why my second avatar has not spawned there? Do you have to do anything specific?

Been trying to find the nearest city I remember (Bowerstone) from the Poland Charterstone but I have NO idea where I am or how to find out :P

Been trying to find the nearest city I remember (Bowerstone) from the Poland Charterstone

This right here is your problem, if I understand you correctly ... when you left the character creation room, did you go up the ladder, or did you go 'ooh, what is this trapdoor thing? What are these different places? Let's click on one of them!' ... and then you ended up in Poland (not that there's anything wrong with that! Poland is very nice and you can buy cherry juice! Dziekuje!)

... because that's what I did. and you end up at a village charter stone. If you manage to get home without being eaten again (oh hey guess what happened to me) you can still get into your house and everything.

If you end up having to start AGAIN before you can get home and build a new hearth fire there, and you go up the ladder, you will have a new hearth fire in some random place in the world. Then, if you manage to find your way home (and if it's a long way, the trick is to make new hearth fires along the way in case of disastrous lag-out incidents on claimed bits of river), you will STILL be able to get in to your house.

You do not auto inherit.

You have to click on the runestone -> Inherit. You cannot inherit from two different toons, and once inherited the stone will go away.
