Fishing - Further explaination needed

Postby JayZaine » Tue Mar 08, 2011 7:03 pm

Hi all.
Need a little help with fishing.
I have equipped all needed parts to my fishing rod (Rod, line, hook, lure/bait) and have a river that appears to be teaming with fish, 5-7 different splashes at least.
However, despite fishing for well over 30 minutes I have yet to catch a single thing. I've tried woodfish, rock lobster and earthworm all with no success. Often when using the earthworm bait it will often cause me to stop fishing for no reason and without and LP. Is this because its the wrong bait for the time of day or similar and if not any ideas why it would happen when it doesn't occur with the other lures/bait?

So, Is there something im neglecting to do? All the parts are of relatively low quality as I'm not very advanced yet but as its a fairly basic skill I would have assumed I could at least catch something better than a cold!

Also, can you catch any type of fish at a fishing site, dependant on the moon etc?

Thanks.

Try fishing with different types of string and try leeches, they usually catch just about anything, as well as make as many of the different lures as you can and just keep trying different combos until you get something. Also, you might need a boat to hit those spots the fish are in if they are not very close to shore.

Maybe the node is only q10-q11 and there is no more fish in that river.

Bait should *always* catch something. I reckon longfeather is right, your fishing spot ends just short of shore. Try moving up and down the coast a couple of tiles, and if that doesn't help boat out and cast right in the middle of the jumping fish.

Well ive tried the three different ones that I have but nothing so far.
A boat for me is a long way off to be honest but its not a wide river and the fish often splash right next to the shore. I will keep swapping things out but I would have expected at least a bite by now

RE: Bait always catching something
I have some good earthworms but when I use them in place of the lure, when I fish it wont fish for long and always before even gaining any LP. With lures I usually get 1-2 minutes before having to fish again.

Earthworms always catch fish, so I guess it might be a depleted spot. I'm not sure if that's actually possible, though, I've never seen it happen.

Well move up and down the shore a bit, try my luck. Irritating as there are so many it looks like ;)
Thanks for the help peeps. Any more ideas, please let me know.

As has been said, bait will -always- catch something (100%, no chance of losing line / hook / always lose bait thought). If you're catching nothing with bait, it means there's nothing there. Boatbuilding isn't too difficult to get to, just save up some LP while you work on your homestead and prepare things for the boat (requires 40 boards, so ten logs).
