Decay rates - Wood

It bugs me hardcore that info about decay rates isn't really posted, so here's my question. What is the decay rate in RT for wood? The logs, blocks and boards left on normal ground if you know them.

Logs never decay. Boards and blocks seem to take ~8 hours. I may be mistaken as I've never done a formal count as all of my materials are stored properly in signposts if not used immediately.

Hmm, that's a really good point (new to the game obviously). What building do you use to store stuff compactly? palisade?
