Expanding a Palisade

Postby Wishes » Wed Mar 09, 2011 1:55 pm

Greetings, i'm living as a hermit. So i build a palisade around my property, so that my more valuable stuff doesn't get stolen.
I now want to expand my property and want to build/expand my Palisade.
So here are the questions:
All the Cornerposts are sealed.
Is it possible to destroy the Palisade between the two cornerposts without a battering ram?
If they're destroyed, is it possible to build a gate between those two?
Where do i build my next initial cornerpost?

Yes, you just need 676 Strength bare handed to do so. 625 with a stone axe, 576 with a pickaxe, or 484 with a sledgehammer.
You can build a gate as long as you have 1 unsealed cornerpost and 2 spaces between two cornerposts. So after you smash the gate section, you'd need to break one of the cornerposts and expand a new one to build a gate.
Anywhere you want?

Psssh, cheapo. Just build a battering ram :P But then again, I've got my friends exploring/hunting for me so I've got a surplus of bone glue and rope sitting around.

You can make a gate out of a sealed cornerpost 2, I just did this yesterday

36 by yourself, 10 if you have someone helping you (a newbie alt works just fine.)

You need at least 1 of the two cornerposts to be unsealed or you can't. The second one can be sealed though, you are correct.

So does this mean if one builds a battering ram you can make more than one gate with only one inital cornerpost if you don't seal it? so make the square(s) and build conrerpost were one will put gates but put a wall instead of a gate. Once finished just detroy the two tile wide gaps and make a gate?

Or don't put any cornerposts in and destroy 4 tiles with the ram. Then you can just build the cornerposts ad the gate without caring about sealing anything.

Oh and remember that using a battering ram damages the palisades on either side of the one you destroy, just be careful of the damage passed along.
