forgive me if im wrong but i belive you need 500 perc*exp to begin to see them (rarely) and as your perc*exp rises so does the amount of rustroot you will find

with only 10 perception, you need 50 exploration to see rustroot

if you can hunt, get a q30+ sling and 50 mms and shoot deer and try to kill them, their roasted meat gives perception and so do carrots
