Do animals still spawn on village claims?

I know they don't spawn on personal claims, but if I have a village claim that goes over grasslands, will cows/sheep/all those other animals still spawn on it?

Coming from someone who has had angry bears maul my face off inside my palisade and village claim, indeed they do.
