Taming

How much unarmed combat should I have? I have chainmail armor that has 88/88 damage soak and leather pants that have 20/20 damage soak, along with a bearcape that has 0/32 damage soak. I have 40 unarmed combat right now, should I attempt taming a single sheep/cow or should I get more unarmed combat?

I did, but I'm wondering if I can take a few damageless hits from an animal when I go up to use sidestep and such.
