Tree growth speed

Has anyone figured out what influences tree growth if anything? Does the quality of the soil matter, and does the type of tree matter. The only thing that seems to mater is the tree grown in native Terran. Trees which can grow in different Terran due they have different growth rates in them?

use the search button, as far as i can remember trees grow faster on their native land, having a paved tile in a 3x3 area around one will cause it to grow slower, and do not take andthing off the tree until it is fully grown or you will stunt its growth

I think different trees grow at different speeds. I have planted quite a few oak trees ever single one is taking at lest twice as long to go past the second stage as the other types I have done.

Yeah, 3 log trees grow slower than 2 log trees. Fruit trees are pretty slow, too.
