Sealing a Palisade

I'm a n00b, been playing less than a week. I've been raided a few times (even after I got yeomanry and claimed my property), so I decided to put up a palisade. Got raided again halfway through the build (had to log out for an hour), but have now finished the thing. Huzzah. But... I'm not sure about sealing the thing.

What's the benefit of sealing a palisade? Is it weaker unsealed than sealed? If I might wish to expand in the near future, should I leave it unsealed?

Forgive me if these are n00b questions. I've looked at the wiki and checked the forums, but haven't found satisfactory answers to these questions anywhere.

if its sealed, no one can build from that cornerpost.you want to do that after you finished your palisade so nobdy uses your own palisade to wall you in

Thanks for your response. A couple of other quick questions:

Am I correct in assuming that I'd have to start another palisade (build a new main post) in order to have a second gate anyway? Would I be able to connect a brand new palisade construction up to an already-sealed corner at a later time?

you pretty much have to start a second palisade or build a battering ram and have the STR to use it to knock a hole in your wall. I recommend just building the second post at the same time as the first.
