Oi!

Postby Adola » Mon Mar 14, 2011 10:36 am

Hello everyone.
Just introducing myself. I've a few questions.
1. Is plotting land for ourself(My crew and I) a good idea starting off early?
2. I noticed there was _NO_ one else in our world...Is this normal? Or are we just doin' it wrong?

I hope that's it. Also, here's hoping the servers starts back up soon :D

I'd say for now just work on security for your group

I'd consider that a good thing as neighbors tend to steal. Like the guys living near me who took my stuff, so I came over and took it back with interest and claimed my area. Oh and when the server comes back up I'm also gonna claim their place

if by no one else in your world you mean when you clicked on the kinlist it said you are alone in the world?
that simply means you have no kin or friends you can set a hearth secret and then tell it to someone else, then they add it, it allows you to see wether they are online and you can private chat to them or have a party

1, How do I work on security? Weapons? What? (I'm worried about combat...I don't want to lose my character.)
2, Thanks, I didn't know that's what that meant.

for now the best security you can get is to build a claim>you need yeomanry skill, then build a palisade around your claim. as for weapons, until you get metal the best you will have is slings and bows and the axe.

Hello.

1. Most people seem to go for Yeomanry early. It is viable though to go a while without having it and instead get things like Boatbuilding to explore for better resources and rely on no-one finding your camp.
If you do the latter, just remember to keep your most valuable things on you when you log off.

2. The world is huge, most people are scattered and we all just started out so our camps are pretty small. If/when you get a boat, you'll start finding a lot of people.

security mainly consists of staying out of sight so don't put a camp near the river where there's lots of traffic. Besides that I'd say maybe try and find a cave to use as storage since you can store cupboards in there and once you claim and fence the outside it'll take a lot of LP for anyone to get in, while at the same time you get lots of room (depending on cave) for very little of your LP. You can also put your HF in front of the cave to block people while you work towards yeomany.

Oh and get a different client so bears and boars don't kill you since they're the only ones who can kill atm, unless someone breaks your boat that is.

What exactly does getting land plotted do?
Also, any good tips for just starting. Do I _NEED_ water? (This game is a bit overwhelming)

boat building is indeed essential, but if you have 2 people who are working together, one can go for the boat, the other goes for the skill that lets you progress without someone jacking your stuff!

Ok, thanks guys. I'll try to find a cave. I'm trying to get working something called 'Enders client'. I assume that's what you mean by 'client'.
