Slightly to hard rock

Is there a general guess for how much more strength I need when that comes up?

sqrt(str*tool quality) = +1 to 15

What does this mean? My tool quality is 5, my STR is 15, so sqrt(75) = 8.660.. ... 8 what? Every rock I have tried to mine says "Very much too hard" .. I kinda figured 5 str later I might scratch the surface

5 Str isn't much ion the grand scheme of things. not when people can have over 100 (and beyond) and it gets harder to level up each time. Keep going with the str uppers.

Best thing you can do is replace that stone axe with one of at least quality 10. That means getting survival up to at least 10 and/or finding a mountainous area where you can dig up stones. They'll have quality nodes just like dirt and clay.

What if a wall is "just slightly to hard to mine" rather than "Slightly to hard"?

this means the most quality ore you can mine is 8. and I'm pretty sure it starts at 10.

This is untrue. I can self confirm that a q8 stone axe and 10 str were enough to mine walls.

It means, by using that formula, if the wall is just slightly too hard, you need between +1 to +15 to your current lets say, mining delta, where sqrt(str*quality) = Mining Delta.
