Claiming Caves

What are the rules when it comes to staking a claim for a cave?

Does it work the same as buildings / mines, where you just claim the entrance for the whole thing, or what?

Well you don't actually claim the inside the cave, you claim the door yes. But unlike a house or something, you don't get scents inside the cave if you just have a claim over the entrance. You could set up a claim inside too, and build houses there, which then would work like houses outside :D

Why? because otherwise what would happen if a cave had multiple entrances, or mineholes leading to it? plus caves are really part of an underground world, they're all on one plane together; what would happen if two caves got mined and connected?

Haven't played since W3, when you couldn't mine caves.

Underground village sounds awesome though...

Thanks for your help!

Once people have tresspassing they'll be able to get inside and steal without leaving scents.

Just fence the outside of the place and then they'll need vandalism to get in

All I know is that traditionally there were caves with claims outside covering the entrance and people used to switch criminal acts on and walk in. Once inside the cave they didn't leave a scent and of course the basic criminal act was available to walk through a claim was available to everyone from character creation on, didn't leave a summonable scent and it was a scent that decayed fast anyway, so there was steady traffic of cave bulb hunters through some abandoned claims on caves. Of course if there was a roundpole fence with a closed gate they needed to have high criminal acts to open it - or else wait for a server reset which would reset the gates open.

I haven't tried this in w5 to see if things are different.

I want to say that even in W4, you couldn't walk into any kind of door/entrance that was on a claim without trespassing skill.

And especially with this new LP system, it's going to take a while for most people to get trespassing.

Correct. If it didn't cover the WHOLE entrance, though, you could walk in.

Meh, I'll claim the inside and the outside. I think it will work better.
