So.. I can't imagine this happens often and probably isn't a big deal, but it seems kinda strange.
A few friends and myself started a 'settlement' when we first started. We really didn't read up much on the game and were discovering it as we went along. I knew you could loot other players but thought if you walled off an area, you could be potentially safe. Long story short, we built a big area, few houses, etc, etc, and it gained attention (especially since it wasn't claimed. Two guys decided to take advantage of that and plopped a claim right in the middle. Fine.. whatever. However I was there at the time.. and the only way for me to get out of the area now was by turning on criminal actions and walking out of *their* land. I couldn't have hearthed as my fire was in a building they claimed.
So, in cases such as this, could people take advantage of this and now find my hearth fire wherever it is? Or is this not officially considered "trespassing"?
