Problem with characters

Hello,

I don't know if a topic already exists for this.

I'm new so I don't know all the rules of this game but here is my problem:
I've been playing with a friend for a few weeks and since saturday we can't play because our characters don't exist anymore.
We can log in but on the window where we can choose the character, we can only choose "New character".

I know that our characters can die, but we were not logged in when they disappeared...
Is it possible to die even if we are not logged in ?
Or is it possible to be banned for some kind of reason ?
Is there a bug or something ?

We were just begining to enjoy the game (because it took time to understand how to play since we're french and that we didn't read all the forum ..) so we are a bit frustrated ^^'

I don't know if there is a link but saturday while we were playing 3 messages appeared in german from the "message system"...


Anyway, we can't play anymore and we have no explanation, we would like to understand why we can't play. (I already sent a message to the admin, but I don't know if they have the time to answer so I decided to post here).

There was a server reset on Saturday, 12 Mar, 2011. All characters were wiped and a new world generated. There are also new learning mechanics in place you'll need to get accustomed to.

Yes. Everyone had to create new characters. On the positive side, this means everyone is starting at about the same range (some advancing slightly faster than others), so it will be easier to get to where you could have things worth trading to other players sooner.

I'm trying to create a new character now but I can't create a hearth secret (because we want to play together with my friend and we don't want to appear in different places of the map xD)

Spawn in the world, ctrl + b, type in a password, click set. You have a Hearthsecret.

For YOU to create a hearth secret, you need to do what Tech said

For you to JOIN someone with a hearth secret, you need to type it in at the character creation room

e.g. Bob presses ctrl-b, types in "lamia"

Joe talks to the character creation person and types in "lamia" to join Bob.

Check your messages by the way
