Softcap?

Hello.

Not exactly sure what soft capping means.
Stone axe: 1 stone: quality 10 + Branch: quality 10.

(10+10)/2 = 10.

However my stone axe is quality 5. And my survival is 1. Please help out here!

Also, where on earth is clay!??! I dig in all the rivers and such, and never seem to get anywhere.

And my final question, in trying ot make a primitive doll, I don't have the option to. I have Lumberjacking, and Carpentry. As well as a bone saw, stone axe, and everything else.

Softcap is a term used to describe the quality output of certain items in relation to one of your stats. Stone Axe quality is "softcapped" by your survival. What this means is that if they quality of the stone axe that you're making (10+10 / 2) ends up being greater than your survival (1, the softcap), then THAT number is added to the resulting quality and it is then divided by 2. So since your survival is only 1, the crafted quality is added to your survival and then divided by 2 to get the final quality (10+1 / 2 = 5)

10 is the average quality, which is then reduced by skill (survival for axe). (10+1)/2 = 5.5, which is rounded down to 5 (it always rounds down). Do note that skill can only drag the quality down, not push it above the resource quality. And for some crafts different materials have different weights in the formula.

Clay is rarish, you just have to keep looking.

You have to make all the materials yourself, did you get the saw from someone else?
