Am I stuck?

When the new world started I was lucky enough to spawn right next to a cave, which I built my hearth next to excitedly. Since I'm on vacation and travelling I didnt get a chance to play again for a few days, but when I logged on I saw someone had claimed the area, as well as my hearth. I remembered seeing someone in a similar situation a couple days ago, who posted about it on the forums, who built a ton of hearths on the claim the force the squatter out. I figured I'd try the same thing, but I dropped a runestone asking the person to leave first, thinking that was the sporting thing to do.

Today I check, and he's built a fence around my hearth, which I can't destroy because its on his claim. Is there anyway to get out of this or is my only option to delete my character?

Is your character physically trapped? if you're in the claimed "field" and can't move because of that you can turn on criminal acts in Adventure and escape. If your hearthfire is trapped but you're not trapped you can just make another one elsewhere.

I'm sorry but a hearthfire next to a cave is fairly meaningless. If they have the area claimed and fenced in, then it's essentially theirs and you can do nothing against them at the time. If you can, turn criminal acts on and leave, moving on to greener pastures. By the sounds of it, you're trapped, so your best bet is to just make a new character and move on.

I'm actually endeavoring on a project to evict every hearth fire that blocks a cave entrance, by claiming over it, or blocking his hearth fire with 5 more until I can claim over. It's just obnoxious.

maybe post a picutre of you, the cave and the surroundings. so ppl might remember the area

I congratulate you and endorse this endeavor. If you're going to claim a cave entrance, do it right by making sure people can see the claim inside and out. It sucks getting stuck on one side or the other because someone only claimed half.

On the other hand, good way to annoy nosy people is to make sure the entrance is only claimed on one side and fenced so anyone nosing around must either have vandalism (and thus leave scents) or hearth out.
