Sealing Cornerposts

Should I seal my cornerpost for my palisade the instant that I get my first little section of wall extended, or does sealing the cornerpost mean that I can't expand segments of wall off of the first segment of wall, unable to finish the wall, so I should wait till it's done?

once you seal the cornerpost you cant extend it.

Can't extend the entire wall? (like if you have a wall going to the east, and then you seal the corner post, you can't make that east wall any longer?) Or can't make new extensions? (like, you have a wall going to the east, and then you seal the corner post, you can no longer extend north/west/south from the cornerpost?)

Just the cornerpost. You can still continue with wall.
Also good to know, that when you seal one cornerpost, while already have piece of wall, then build the wall in square and come back with the last cornerpost for a gate, you can still make a gate from the last cornerpost, even though the initial one is sealed.
