Just started this awesome game , questions...are there any good starting out tutorials out there, if not what should i start out doing? and how do you fish? (Equipped fishing rod, and went to water, left and right clicked franticly and nothing happened :/ ) im guessing im doing this all wrong xD

OK just read but it didnt have the answers to what i wanted to know.

questions:

#1 How do i Actually use my rod? i was walking all over that river/lake thing right/left clicking and nothing was happening.

#2 I want to be able to woodcut where can i get an axe/hatchet from to woodcut? and where can i woodcut?

#3 I would like my own house, how would i get it?

#4 How would i get a wepaon to fight with? and do i fight by right clicking on a monster?

The How-to was only helpful up to an extent, it didnt help past the point of getting items and how to use them.

To use a fishing rod you must have one equipped and have the skill Fishing, which you can get for 200 LP. Once you have that skill, a new action is unlocked under "Adventure", you can click Adventure-> Fish to bring up a cursor shaped like a fishing hook, left click that on a body of water to fish, it may take a while.
Woodcutting is easy, right click a tree and get a branch from it, then right click a boulder and chip some stone off of it. Combine the two under craft to make a simple stone axe. As far as trees go, I wouldn't recommend cutting down trees in very sparse areas, and especially not around the Ring of Brodgar. As you might have seen, noobs with axes have decimated every tree around the ring for miles. And they've also failed to re-plant any of them.
As far as your own house goes, you have to have Carpentry to do it, and a house takes an awful lot of wood. By the time you got one built, we would probably already be in the new world, so I wouldn't worry about it. As for claiming a house as your own and preventing trespassers (To an extent), Look up the skill "Yeomanry" on the wiki.

Thank you , i know this is very noobish xD but how do you purchase? is it on my screen somewhere or do i have to travel to a location to learn it? also what does lp stand for?

LP is learning points, equivalent to XP in most games.

To purchase skills, enter the character sheet screen by clicking the face button. It's in that cluster where inventory and equipment are. I think it's self-explanatory from there.

argh been searching everywhere for forests, would anyone know where they are? all i see is the ones allready cut down or the ones on peoples land that i cant reach >:(

You'd have to travel out to Mordor. And one does not simply walk into Mordor.
Really though, LONG LONG WAYS from the ring of brodgar, you -might- find trees. Maybe. If you're really lucky.

Basically, anywhere that newbs can access, the trees disappear. Some public spirited people replant trees in newbie accessible areas, but there are more folks chopping than planting.

Mordor is the general term for areas where animals are strong and aggressive, because civilization (villages, hearths, claims) are few. If you are new, you'll just get knocked out, possibly killed if you try to visit.

Fortunately we'll all be on a new map soon, and we've been promised there will be lots of trees, even in the most civilized area, at least to start.

However if you need wood desperately in the meanwhile, you can probably make a deal with others to let you take wood in exchange for replanting as many trees as you chop. One way to make such a deal is to join an existing village.
