How do I build a Crucible

I have discovered copper, bricks and clay. I can not build a crucible yet so can someone please explain why I can't please? Thanks

Shot in the dark here, but what kind of clay did you use/discover? Could it be something like the Crucible is associated with one clay type and not another? I was able to build a Crucible with Metalworking, Masonry, Ball Clay and Bricks - no metal discovered at all yet.

I have dug acre and ball clay. I have made ball clay and acre clay bricks... I just don't understand it...

Maybe you need to discover coal as well, as you cannot fuel crucibles with other branches, blocks, boards, or logs.

Trying to think what else I did making mine. I think I built my ore smelter first, have you completed one of those yet? Are you looking in the right section of the Build menu (Tools->Crucible, not Construction)?
I can confirm I have never made coal either, so that should not be it.

I don't have masonry, and yet I can build a crucible... I don't think you need it...

No maybe here. You have to have discovered coal first.
