Is there a type of terrain that mountains are more likely to border, or do i just need to be lucky and find some? looking for High Q stone for my stone axe, and i hear the only way to get it is mountains. Could high end stone be found in mines also, without actually mining for it? like digging on the floor?

So only the small stone nodes you find scattered across the floor? or actually mining for said stone. Basically im trying to make a stone axe higher than rank 7, so i can mine some "slightly too hard" areas.

If your Axe is Q7, then you need more survival.

If your stone axe is q7, you should raise your survival first.
Aside from that, you'll have to mine the walls for stone and hope you hit a quality node in a soft area.

But you'll be more successful when just digging on mountains. They're everywhere, just look around a bit.
