Mine hole leading into a cave?

Postby Halagaz » Sat Mar 19, 2011 8:38 am

Do you see any trace of a mine hole if you are inside a cave?

I ask this because i had last night some noob alts with zero skill pop up from inside my cave entrance and i first tought that an other entrance was somewhere but after full exploration of the cave they are no other entrance no trace of anything in fact, so or they come from a mine hole but i saw nothing special. Or they somehow managed to infiltrate and keep some alt inside, something i find very unprobable because i raised my palisade very fast, maybe day 3, but to be honest i didn't locked the entrance with hs or anything similar (even i put a claim very fast like day 1 or2) so during this time they could have infiltrate just going through the claim and keeped a guy logged out inside.

So if they come from a mine hole can you see any trace of the hole from inside like a ladder or anything? I always mined from a cave, never needed to make a mine hole so i have no clue how it look like, but i think there is a ladder (from outside for sure, but from inside im not sure), i need a confirmation, thanks.

Yes, a mineshaft could tunnel into your cave from above, but it's rather unrealistic seeing the requirements to build one - wax production should be pretty limited this early. I'd guess that whoever came out of your cave had logged off inside before you came around, and logged on after you'd set up shop.

If my memory serves me right then you can't create a mineshaft directly over an open area. I don't know what the limitations are but you still can make one near and mine it the cave area.

And to the OP people can trespass without any skills so if you don't have your entrance fenced off and claim then he could still get in. And can a single cave systems have multiple entrances?

Never tried to intentionally build a mine shaft over a cave system, so you're guess is as good as any. :)

Yes, people can trespass without any skills, however, without the actual trespassing skill, they can not use any gates, doors, or entrances (like a cave entrance). They can only cross your claimed, unfenced land.
