Exponential curve for farming.

Postby Adola » Mon Mar 21, 2011 10:40 pm

Am I correct in saying that every cycle of harvest for, lets say, carrots.

Yields the curve of f(x)=x^3

Is this correct? Seems to good to be true.

1Carrot - Makes 3 carrots.
3Carrots - Makes 3+3+3 carrots.
9Carrots - Makes (3+3+3)+(3+3+3)+(3+3+3) = 27.

And that's only 3 cycles....
And isn't that only like (16*3) [16 being stage 3 carrots to yeild 3 seeds with max nature and beehives, and 3 from the number of cycles to yield 27 carrots).

I hope this is correct, but if there's something wrong here, please let me know. (I'm afraid of some really dumb thing I'm overlooking)

That's correct. After a few cycles the limiting factors become..

The land it takes to grow the crops
The time it takes to harvest the crops
The space it takes to store the crops
The effort it takes to use the crops

Ok, excellent.

Of course the space limitation exists! Thank you, I was just cnofused.

At what generation do you suggest I begin selective breeding to insure the best quality crops?
(I need to design a model to plan my growing habits).

You should use Statistica to ensure that all of your crop statistics are diligently studied.

when you have a 5x5 plot of carrots start being selective

exponential curve is an interesting way of looking at it, i always thought of it as 1 tile yields 3 carrots. but then you have to replant 1 carrot per tile, so your surplus is 2 carrots per tile harvested
