can chickens be kept in a fence securely?

Postby yolanda » Thu Mar 24, 2011 2:56 am

so i found some chickens and i let one out inside a roundpole fenced area and when i right clicked it it ran away through the fence. now i know that that was due to my naivety, but had i not right clicked, would the fence have kept the chicken inside?

Also on an unrelated note I noticed that rabbits can hop down/up cliffs the other day.

all animals can apparently move through all the surroundings if they're running away/aggressive :/

and what do you mean by not eternally?

Only the small animals. IE, Frog / Rat / Rabbit / Chicken.

Boars, Bears, Foxes, and Deer all have the same pathing issues as normal hearthlings.

This thread is full of bad information. What Jackwolf said is true. You cannot keep animals in fences however as they will simply despawn when you leave the area/log off/go in-doors for a few minutes. If you want to securely keep chickens you Must keep them in a chicken coop. They will starve to death in containers.

if youre going to have a coop soon, you could spawn an alt at your place to literally watch over then. this way they dont despawn
we had an wild auroch in village for like a day this way, was fun

else just remember heathes and grasslands, chickens are quiet common
