I never really cared until world 5 since they play a much larger role with the new system and I was just a loner/farmer. Should I just gather a large sum of food for the FEPs I want to increase and just eat all of it at once and than just work off the over stuff? Or even more so can you die from over stuff? I always just ate when I was hungry and made sure to eat the right food for the right FEP (Along with 1 or 2 things for diversity bonuses) and I can see now that it's probably the wrong method to getting a good amount of FEP. Feel free to share any of your methods.

Remember, types of food, Not types of FEPs. You can eat 5 different Strength foods and they will reduce the total number of FEPs you need. A good idea is to aim for FEPs that you want and gamble with them a little. So if you want int, like everyone does, then eat 60%+ of your bar into int, then eat other weak FEP giving foods to gain the rest. Note that the 60% FEPs will turn into a larger percentage as other foods reduce your total required bar.
