How can my friend start next to me?

Hi i just started playing this and i told my friend about it, but is there a way he can start next to my hearth or next to me?

1. Press ctrl-B. In the window that opens, type a word in the "my hearth secret" field and press Set.
2. Tell that word to your friend
3. When your friend creates a character, have him rightclick on the topmost NPC in the character creation room. He should speak that word to her and a stairway will appear. He can descend the stairway to start next to you.
