Postby shotgunn9 » Sat Mar 26, 2011 11:02 pm

alrighty i live near a small broad leaf forest that has supplied all my food up until now...it lasted me three or so (RL) days now the trees bear no fruits and ive yet to be able to find seeds to plant with a exploration skill below of 2 (lol). also let me be honest for some odd reason i cant fish and dont know how to. any suggestions on how to find food in large enough quantitites to sustain me for awhile?

Buy exploration up. Blueberries, spindly taproot, rabbits, chickens, chantrelles, etc..

Fish, foragables, small game, and ants are just about all of your options since you lack crops, cattle, big game, or cheese production. Go exploring for more apple and nut trees, I guess?

Teck has it straight. If you need to, call off any serious building projects and switch to second speed (walking) to minimize stamina drain.

If you've got your hearthfire up, start a-wandering -- I mean, LONG range wandering, and hunt for new trees as well as game. Remember that you can get decent food from apple, mulberry, and hazelnut trees.

This is why I push Exploration so hard early game. Blueberries and chantrelles are tasty!

You know, I'm surprised snares and traps aren't a part of this game. Small-game hunting with snares is pretty established in preindustrial cultures.

Quite agree with you on the exploration. I think 10 is the recommended number so you can see nearly all the basic forageables. That and survival to 10 so you're not softcapping your food as much. After that, then you can start thinking about other skills to raise.

Traps are an ongoing discussion. Wish something would come of it.

Patrol local grasslands, moors and heaths, often they'll spawn chickens which gets you a nice amount of meat.
