Discovering

Hello, I've been playing this for a week now, together with a friend. We have a claim and a little home and everything, yet we're not sure how discovering stuff works.
We know that we must discover everything what's needed for a building to build it, but my friend wasn't able to build a tanning hub (not sure he can now..) so we want to know whether discovering means to build or to just find/see something, since that's important for planning what skills we should learn.

Discovery is "getting brand-new object". Like sawing and getting boards yourself. Additionally, you need corresponding skills.

You must be the one to interact with the object first. So if your friend saws a log into boards, whoever picks a board up discovers it. Once discovered it can never be discovered again and a new one will have to be made for discovery. Make sure your friend has leatherworking, has discovered a tanned hide (pull it off the drying rack), bucket water (fill a bucket with water), and boards.
