Port forwarding

Seemingly at random, games will require I forward a port (even after long term use with no problems) to solve lag issues. Just so this never becomes an issue for me, I was wondering if anyone had had any success forwarding this game on their router? I am not sure what the port is that H&H uses, or how to find that out.

I have never had to forward a port to get H&H working on my computer and it's on a NAT behind two routers...

From memory the system opens a random port to the server and doesn't close it?
