What are the chances of finding anything other than copper?

Made a mine hole.. copper ore EVERYWHERE. However, copper alone is fairly useless. I've been digging in one direction for quite a while in search of another type of ore. Am I wasting my time?

Well normally ores are in veins or nodes, name it as you please.
If there is a Copper node then the odds of another node there of a different metal is similar to having 2 acre clay nodes in the same mudflat. I'm not even 100% sure of what I'm saying, some metals are more common compared to others, so that may make a ore node more common in comparison to a clay node. But think of it as in a cave, 2 metals in the same cave layer isnt something too hard to find. You should prospect to check it.

So far I've found Copper on the 1st floor, Iron Ore and Tin on the 2nd floor (big distance between them), and Copper on the 3rd floor.
Only mined the copper and the iron so far.

Found two iron caves and a cave with three tin veins and an iron vein so it's possible to find more than one ore type in a single cave. But not in the same node.

Of course if you just randomly built a minehole I'm not sure that you will suddenly stumble upon another metal type.

Mine nodes are like Q nodes. Lets say someone finds an Iron node. They build a minehole, and through that mine hole they unlock the next layer of the world, which is shared with caves, on the same coordinate of where they built it on the surface. The iron node is where that minehole is. You can then mine some tiles and get iron ore. After some tiles the node runs out, and all that is left is rock. If they continue mining they might eventually reach another node. So pretty much, if you compare the underground world to the surface world, there are metal nodes. Where the metal nodes are there is said metal, which is a vein of metal. Where ever there isn't a metal vein, all it produces from mining said rock is stone. All these metal nodes are randomly produced at the beggining of the world, but most common metals, seem more common. Just a note, on the surface you can only find iron, tin and copper. The chances of getting 2 nodes in one minehole is very low, and unless you dig to a another node, chances are pretty low. It's like going mining speed from one clay node, to the next.
