How can I deal with this bear?

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask, but it was the closest thing I could see.

A couple of friends and I have joined forces for mutual protection and are setting up a place to live, we have a house, and recently built a well. All was going well, until a bear decided to make it's home on our front lawn. We are all very weak, having just started, and a couple of us having suffered several deaths already, there is no way we can take it on hand to hand, and it's trapped us inside the house except for brief, and very risky forays outdoors, running as fast as we can. I have two questions.

If I make a new character to try and decoy it away from us, will that delete my current character?
Will it move on on it's own if we don't interact with it?

Unless your place is 100% paved, outrunning it is not a good idea. I heard animals de and respawn every now and then so it will eventually go away.

If you make an alt and lure the bear away and IF it kills you then your char is gone yeah

You and ALL your friends have to stay in the house for 30 minutes or so. If the bear is not observed by ANYONE for 15-30 min it will despawn (and possibly two bears will spawn in its place)

what kind of stats/skills would be required to kill a bear? with a stone axe? or with unarmed?

also are bears the hardest animal in the game to kill? or, even if i can solo a bear, should i be worried about being killed by another animal aswell? like a boar? or a deer?

If you make a new character (an alt) you will not lose your first character. Currently I have 4 characters on this account. But if a character dies, you will lose that character forever.

Also, I'm not 100% sure but I think a stone axe doesn't count as a weapon. Meaning it doesn't do shit for your fighting skill. But I might be wrong.

I don't have any melee combat experience, but I'm told stone axes are much worse than unarmed (unless you have high-quality trees and stones lying around)...and that bears shouldn't be fought without 80-120 combat skill and "good" armor. Oh, and don't use a shield if you're unarmed; blocking is based on melee skill.

Alternatively, you can make a sling and pelt it with rocks for a few hours...assuming you can stay out of its range but still access an ammo supply (stones). A q20 sling and 20 marksmanship should make it relatively easy, if slow.

Bears are pretty much the strongest animals outside of caves; trolls are apparently worse, but they won't bother you if you stay above ground. Deer can heal other animals, but aren't hostile unless you hit them first. Boars are hostile, but don't do as much raw damage as bears. Foxes should be relatively easy by the time you can stand up to the other animals.
