advice on farming plz

Postby homsikpanda » Sun Apr 03, 2011 7:24 pm

i have a small plot of land and some farm place but i'm not kind of running out of room to plant things and was looking for some advice on what i should do...

here's a picture

i've planted some flax to the east for the time being but i'm planning on turning that into a kiln/anvil place when i can find a spot to mine for minerals or something

should i relocate my flax? if so where? or should i relocate my other veggies to where my flax is and turn the north of my house into my industrial zone?

Designate areas for each of your crops (there are 14 total). Segregate these areas with stone paving. That's really all there is to it. There's not really any right or wrong way to plant crops, just keep it organized.

Yeah, you need a lot more room for a farm.

Depends on your personal usage and how many people you'll be providing for. Since farming and farming byproducts don't give LP anymore, you'll only need to make fields big enough to support your needs. 4x8 for carrots/pumpkins/peas is a good start for food needs. You'll want rather large (8x8) wheat and flax/hemp fields too, as they provide wheat and string which are always useful. Other stuff that a beginner wouldn't generally use (pepper/hops/tea/tobacco) you can leave small fields (4x4) to maintain and increase quality on, but not take up too much space.

Granted these are largely scaled back numbers given your current progress and there's really no correct or incorrect way to do it, but it'd be a good starting point I suppose.
