Does the quality of curiosities matter?

Like do you get bonus exp for every 10 quality on curiosities or is it just there for no reason?

Yeah, they get the same q multiplier as most stuff (sqrt(q/10)).

Does it also take more concentration space or is there an intelligence level where you no longer need to progress (for curiosities atleast).

Item quality never seems to change their size or mental weight. It's just extra LP.

Might I also add that (correct my math if I'm wrong) 40q would double the amount of LP over 10q.

That's right. 10, 40, 90, 160, etc are multiplied by 1, 2, 3, and 4 multiples. You'll notice, that if you remove that extra zero, they're squared numbers, 4 and 9 and 16.
