Protecting acre clay.

If i were to grass nearly all of the flat, and leave that sweetspot 1 tile untouched; would it remain its high active quality?
or does a nod need all its surrounding tiles to keep it up?

Un-grassed spot will be at whatever Q regardless of the surrounding tiles is desert or grass or pavement. So yes that 1 tile (if thats the peak) will be at its peak Q.

Won't grassland on a clay node deteriorate? The grass we planted is vanishing in spots and patches.

I actually don't know if grassed tiles revert to their natural tile over time. If they do, it'd probably be better to pave the area instead, because paved tiles last a long ass time. Highly suggest you palisade in the sweet spot though, because someone can pave it over to grief you and that would take a while to go away.

IF you have starving animals, they will eat the grass tiles making them look like dirt (though u can NOT dig clay on it even if its on a clay node)
