How can I travel in/out of palisade without opening gates?

I built a palisade and keep the gate key on separate character. How can I pass in and out, or at least transfer my foraged items into my base, without having to open the gates every single time?

Bear teeth are easy, you just need to stay in the boat.

Get sling, find bear. Shoot bear. Run to boat. Sit and shoot until it dies. Bathe in bear blood. Win.

So you don't get griefers extending your palisade and walling you in without a gate to exit through.
