food consumption and logging out?

is it possibly to starve to death if i don't like in for a very long time?

You only burn hunger when you restore stamina or HP. Neither of these happen when you're offline, at least in my experience I've woken up after 8 hours with a half-full SHP and a full Hunger.

You are absolutely correct miss. There is one thing I'd like to add though, I've noticed that when you move around while lifting objects, you also get hungry. Besides that, you don't get hungry when you sleep.
