Gather beeswax

Postby theTrav » Wed Apr 06, 2011 12:50 am

I've got a hive.
I've got all crops except for carrots, poppies and tea,
crops are in 5x5 squares in range of the hive
Wheat is filling its square, flax is filling its square, everything else is about 2 rows full
I've been through about a week of harvests
I've gathered honey twice

My hive has no wax

What gives? Is there a trick to it? do they require one of the missing crops?

The hive has been moved twice since I built it, but that was within the first day

I've had a pretty similar problem. I''ve had my farm since the first week of world 5 and I've only gotten 3ml of honey and no wax. I think me and you are just unlucky, it's all chance to produce both. :(

Could be that beehives are still bugged.
IMHO it's easier to harvest candleberries and craft wax from them.

we get shitloads of wax from our hives, one thing i know is that you need to have the crops growing constantly. fast growing crops are good for honey and wax production.

Only the crops that are still growing produce wax. If you want lots of wax - replant a lot and you will have it.

I harvested/replanted a big part of my wheat field yesterday at night, other plants there were already ready to harvest but I didnt have time. When I woke up today it had 3x Wax and almost full of honey. Wasnt that many tiles either, maybe a 12x9 or something like that and it was only wheat growing at the time.

You must remove the wax before taking out honey (right click on the hive and select the option to remove wax). Taking out honey will destroy wax in the hive

taking honey does NOT destroy wax when it is accumulated enough to harvest.
i always take honey first to check the quality of wax to harvest.

Yep i have a rough start as well with my wax, i also asked myself why i couldn't gather wax yet, but i remember in w4 it needed some time to do that and since i had to move my camp i wasn't sure if its normal or not.

Only tip about wax is that once you gather them you need to do it every day if you want to have its quality to raise, if you don't gather it regularly its quality drop and won't go up.

Was always taught to do the opposite myself, but then again hermits aren't always the most informed teachers
