Fishing

Right, next question then.

How does fishing work? I have all the necessary thing (fishpole, fishing line, hook and lure), I'm standing by the water and the fishes are jumping. But still I get no fish. What am I missing?

Its possible that the fishing node is completely exhausted. Go and find another fishing node.

But wouldn't the fish stop jumping then? Or have I mis-read that part?

I'm not sure if it is a bug or not, but the fish definitely do not stop jumping.

Ah, will have to try that then. Thanks.

Oh, I assume that when you actually are fishing there will be some kind of animation or the hour-glass icon right?

No, you'll only see your character put the fishing rod in the water and then over time fish might get caught and go into your bag.

If you're using a lure it can take quite a bit longer to actually catch a fish. Try using live bait. If there are fish available you will catch one almost instantly. If there are no fish currently available your character will reel in as if he has caught a fish but there will be no fish and your bait will not have been consumed.

This ^

Live/fresh bait includes worms (digging), leeches (swamps), and intestines (animals).

If you want to stick to using lures, have a couple worms or leeches with you (or intestines if you've been hunting) and use those to test the node for fish first. That way you don't spend 15 min wondering.

Ok thanks for the tip.

Problem is, I don't even think I begin to fish. My char just stands there with his fishing pole on his shoulder doing nothing.
