Armour choice

Just wondering what people's opnions are about Cutthroat cuirass versus bronze or steel plate.

My impression is that Cutthroat wins out due to the bonuses instead of penalties. In previous worlds anyway, it sounds like deflection didn't do a whole lot once you lost your defense bar. Just wondering what people's opinions are on the matter.

Edit: There's a good point that now that botting differences won't be as extreme as in last world, the nature of combat may chance. 300 versus 200 UA might be a point where skill/equipment could make the difference. Whereas in previous worlds 200 UA non botting players would brick wall against 500 UA botters. Not sure if this changes the balance between stat bonuses and extra deflection.

Bronze is cheap and good to stick farmers in, since they can't fight anyway. Deflection is pretty damn important when dealing with archers but if you plan to actually fight, if you can't swing, you can't win. CtC will win out over Bronze most of the time, since most people have no idea how to recover once their defense bar is gone (it's not easy, to say the least and often leads to panicing.) Once you have a decent agi anyway, Bronze and Steel are superior.

Mmm, interesting. When you say "decent agi" what range are we talking about?

That is subject to debate and opinion but the higher the better. I'd say it's safe to switch out once you're at 100 but it wouldn't be hard to make the case that you can afford to do it earlier than that. When you're comfortable switching out or when you feel that you're at a point where most opponents are either on par with you or below you, go ahead and start wearing bronze/steel. You just never want an opponent to be substantially higher in agi than yourself.

A level XI bear hit me 10 times and didnt even hurt me when I was wearing just a bronze plate, so deflection is good. If you have good enough AGI use metal armor, if not or you cant afford it, just using leather is good enough.

If that's true, then it never got through your defence bar. Pretty sure animals use Unarmed attacks, 30% penetrates through your armor.
