Uhmm.... I dont want to be mean, but if you read the guide, how can you ask questions like:

This is not Diablo 2. You dont hack and slash here awaiting you will hit with some percentage.

Read the guide again, using brain (hence the IQ). You have to use your own brain, not the Hearthling one (hence IRL = in real life)
Combat in HaH means:
You attack and try to deplete enemys defense bar (blue bar)
IF you deplete it you damage him with every hit (you need red bar for it)
Amount of damage is a fromula based on your str, weapon, advantage....

But anyway, read the guide again.. WHOLE guide. There is everything. How to fight, how high UA and MC you need.

you need a full red bar for roughly a 95% chance to hit him

If enemy has empty blue bar, one tick of red is enough to hit him. Does not mean significantly hit him, but you always hit him when your attack weight is higher.

You will only hit him when his defense is low enough, you should read the guide again.

That is just plain wrong information. The attack and defense bars have nothing to do with % chances. It is all simple math and how much you take off of an enemies defense bar depends on both your skill values.

Not necessarily the same issue as OP here, but I've heard people refer to having Melee skill to "make the sword hit". According to what you guys are saying, swords act 100% like UA, they always hit one way or the other. They'd just have less combat weight behind them with less melee.

So the only point behind having melee skill is combat weight then?

Red Bar = % of your Weight used to remove blue bars
Blue Bar = % of your Weight used to block red bars
Weight = Relevant Combat Skill (Unarmed or Melee)
If you have 10 Unarmed and they have 100 Unarmed, even with a full red bar, you are doing 100% of 10, which will take off a very small amount of his Blue bar, which is 100% of 100. If you have an empty red bar, then you're using 0% of your 10, so it may as well be 0.
If you don't know which attacks use which skill, then stop using the combat system. Seriously. All moves, maneuvers, and special moves either don't have a weight or use Unarmed with the exception of the Maneuver 'Block', which uses Melee.
Best of luck with your boar.
