terrain?

I have noticed that there are different types of terrain (forest, desert, some swampy one).
What is each one and how does it affect you/what does it have?
And is the terrain in Mordor the same as the rest of the world?

Basically, different mobs and plants ( I believe, might be wrong about the plants ) spawn in different areas.

Also, forests have lots of trees, "deserts" have clay spots and swamps cause you to get leeches attached to your body.
